Library Marble Makeover with Sincerely, Sara D.

Posted July 25, 2019

I love anything and everything that is timeless and elegant, so you can imagine how excited I was to give our home library a makeover with marble tile flooring!

We have a home library (it sounds much fancier than it really is), and I hated our beige carpet that was in the space. I hid stains under an area rug, and I always felt the flooring never fit the room.

My dream came true when I discovered Jeffrey Court’s Italian White Carrara Honed Marble Tile. It is part of the Jeff Lewis Tile collection, and it is absolutely stunning!

With my husband’s help, the old carpet was removed and the cement board was installed.

After the cement board was down, I used a wax crayon and created grid lines on the cement board to keep my tile lines straight. It worked so well!

Once the prep work was complete, it was time to begin tiling!

I used spacers to keep my grout lines consistent (while watching the grid).

I found that although each tile was unique, the color varied by boxes/batches. I opened up several boxes at once and mixed them up so I had a variety and no large dark (or light) patches in the space.

I tiled the room over the course of several days and kept all the cuts until the end (since I began in the middle of the room). I was able to utilize any cast-off or broken pieces and salvage them for the smaller pieces.

Before I grouted I used a grout release to make grout clean-up easier, and I am so glad I did!

For the grout, I used Fusion Pro in Platinum, and it was the perfect color for the tile.

The marble tile is stunning and adds elegance to the space.
