Modern Entry Makeover with a Baby on Board

Posted June 4, 2018

Not only is it a true act of bravery to take on any renovation yourself, but add in a six week timeframe plus a baby cookin’ in the oven, and you have yourself a real superhero.

Lindi Vanderschaaf of Love Create Celebrate is the brave momma of two with one on the way taking on her entry to give it a more modern look in our Renovation Challenge.

“Linoleum floors, outdated light fixtures, peach walls… there’s a lot in this space that doesn’t match my design style,” said Vanderschaff. “Our plans are to transform this into a functional, modern mudroom by changing the flooring, painting the walls (some of which is done already!), putting in a new modern front door, and creating storage.”

With a strong love of tile, Lindi selected a great mix of our Ashwood faux wood tile and some of our Basalt darker stone tiles to make her modern entry come to life.

The natural light coming through her new entry door lights up the Ashwood to keep the space light and airy while the accent wall and bench are darker features. But it was the Basalt bench that really made our jaws drop.

Adding storage drawers and shelving made the otherwise outdated area a new focal point and functional space for the family to use daily. We’ll also have more on the jaw-dropping bench and a step-by-step guide on how to achieve the same look in a bit.

Take in the whole space that Lindi, her husband and baby took on and the final reveals below. We’ll be wiping up the drool in the meantime.
