Big Visual Impact for Your Home

Contrasting  grout colors against tile color is a popular trend and a great way to add a pop to your space. Why? Because it creates a custom look, and highlights the patterns created by tile! With the kitchen I designed below, we contrasted the Jeffrey Court Castle Rock Porcelain Hexagon which is a Charcoal Grey floor tile I paired with an off white grout. This helps highlight the hex pattern that is so popular now. I love this floor because it subtly adds a different twist to a traditional kitchen.

DESIGNER TIP: This kitchen shows both a white tile with white grout and a dark grey tile with white grout. Check out the visual difference – it’s much easier to see the pattern on the floor than on the back wall.

Another example of highlighting a hex pattern is a kitchen I designed with the Jeffrey Court Tav Ma Hive Glass Mosaic Tile.  I choose a light grey grout to bring up the cement color of the countertops into the background of the glittering glass tile. The scale of the glass pattern is smaller so the repeating pattern blends allowing the sheen to shine as one element.

DESIGNER TIP: Glass tile is a great way to add some light bouncing around a dark space. It was the perfect element to blend with matte finished cement countertops.

How do you choose a grout when there are multiple colors in your mosaic tile? Well, white is always a safe answer but in the kitchen below I chose to contrast with a dark grout. By connecting the dark tones together across the backsplash I made the space feel more substantial and connected the dark parts of the pattern.

DESIGNER TIP: Grey and off whites are terrific trendy colors to look for in The Home Depot Grout selection. These tones will help add pattern to your spaces and update your home.
